Mauricio serves as the Director of the Jayhawk Student One Stop. He has worked in Higher Education for the last ten years, specifically focusing on retention and support initiatives for underrepresented undergraduate students. A first-generation college student, Mauricio is a two-time graduate from the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC), and a current student in the higher education doctoral program at the University of Kansas (KU).
Mauricio has worked at KU since 2010 and has been involved in several initiatives that support the advancement of diversity, equity and inclusion on campus. He is actively involved with the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) and the Higher Education Case Managers Association (HECMA).
A native of Mexico City, Mexico, Mauricio enjoys watching and playing sports, reading comic books, and exploring the intersections between sports and politics.
