Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration Events 2020

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Breakfast

Maceli's Banquet Hal (1031 New Hampshire Street)

The event will feature keynote speaker Dr. David Tell, Professor at KU, as well as entertainment from Vanessa Thomas, world renowned performer.

Roundtable discussions will focus on the radical activism that was King's true legacy, including his fight against poverty, segregation, joblessness and his opposition to the Vietnam war.

THURSDAY, JANUARY 24

Lawrence Public Schools ONE DREAM Event

Doors open at 5:30 pm, ceremony begins at 6:30 pm
Billy Mills Middle School (2734 Louisiana Street)

The event includes a gallery viewing, cultural performances, educational presentations, and the district’s annual MLK Awards presentations to students, staff and community members. The gallery exhibition begins at 5:30 p.m., auditorium doors open at 6 p.m. with presentations beginning at 6:30 p.m.
