September 21 - Joaquín Zihuatanejo

Join us during Hispanic and Latinx Heritage Month for a keynote and workshop with Joaquín Zihuatanejo, from the barrio of East Dallas, Joaquín speaks on the duality of the Chicano culture & has captivated thousands with his honest depiction of barrio life.

October 9 - Indigenous People's Day

Indigenous Peoples’ Day is a holiday that celebrates and honors Native American peoples, and commemorates their histories and cultures. It is celebrated across the United States on the second Monday in October. In 2023, the Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging partnered with the First Nations Student Association and celebrated with several events such as: Tipi Raising at Strong Hall, A Native Identity Student Panel, and a Celebrating Indian Centers discussion panel.
