Dr. Porras is the Assistant Vice Provost for Diversity & Equity and the Director of the Office of Multicultural Affairs at The University of Kansas. In her position, Precious is responsible for the development of long-range strategic planning and program development, including the assessment of such programs and services, consistent with the mission of Diversity 7 Equity. Precious has worked at KU since 2005, in a variety of positions in the OMA, including Associate Director for Diversity Education and Social Justice Programs and as a Retention Specialist. Precious has over 15 years of experience developing and facilitating social justice, diversity, and competency workshops and trainings.
Precious earned her B.S. in Psychology and Sociology from Northwest Missouri State University in 2002, first in her family. She then received her M.S. in Counseling & Student Personnel from Emporia State University in 2004, again, first in her family. She is completed her Ed.D. in Educational Leadership & Policy Studies at The University of Kansas in 2019, again, first in her family. She is actively involved with NASPA & ACPA. Precious is also a proud member of Zeta Phi Beta, Sorority Inc.
When not at work, Precious is an avid reader and enjoys playing board games with her husband or playing with their yellow lab Stella.
