Vector: Online DIB Training through Canvas

Vector Solutions provides a web-based educational training addressing diversity, inclusion, and belonging on campus. The Vector training is assigned to all new and continuing undergraduate students, graduate students, and non-degree seeing students.

About Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging Training

The University of Kansas is committed to ensuring an equitable and inclusive campus where everyone feels like they belong. Students achieve better academic outcomes and have better experiences when our campus community is more inclusive. This online training sets the foundation for ongoing education on these topics. 

 

Accessing Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging Training

To complete the DIB training, a computer with internet access and audio capabilities is needed. Closed captioning is also available. If a student does not have a computer, they can use any publicly available computer with internet access at computer lab locations on campus.  For best results in accessing the course, Chrome or Firefox is preferred over Internet Explorer or other web browsers.

This course will be accessible beginning January 2024.

Detailed information about the course will be sent via email to the student's assigned KU email account once it is accessible.

Fall 2023 Students - If you are looking to complete this course, it is now available in Canvas; furthermore, to complete your training, log into your Canvas account.

Spring 2024 Students - If you are looking to complete this course, it will be available soon in Canvas; furthermore, an email will be sent to your KU account with detailed information.

As a student, you play a vital role in helping foster a positive campus community. All students are guided by the Code of Student Rights & Responsibilities and are expected to uphold the values outlined within: unity, innovation, inclusion, and engagement.

    All KU undergraduate, graduate, and non-degree seeking students should check their KU email for a program invitation or use this link to access the program.

    KU undergraduate and graduate students must complete online training before enrolling in the following semester's classes. Registration holds (also known as enrollment holds) will be placed on non-compliant student accounts following the deadline date. 

    For students beginning at KU in Fall 2023, training information will be sent to your KU email in mid-to-late July 2023. The communication will include the deadline for completing training in time to enroll in Spring 2024 courses.

    General troubleshooting with course issues includes making sure you are on the most up to date browser. Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox are recommended as they are the most compatible browsers with HTML5. If you are on the most recent version of one of those browsers and it is still not working, clear your browser cache, shut down all browser windows, and try again.​​

    If you would like to learn more about topics of diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and social justice, there are several ways you can do so at KU.

    The Office of DEIB provides a resource portal where you can learn more about specific identities or topics. Additionally, the Office of Multicultural Affairs offers social justice trainings for students, and the Center for Sexuality & Gender Diversity offers SafeZone trainings for students and employees.

    There are many more opportunities to learn both in and out of the classroom. Some avenues to explore:

    The training uses situations and topics that can be triggering to individuals who have experienced microaggressions and/or discrimination based on historically marginalized identities. Requests for training alternatives or exemptions should be submitted to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging (diversity@ku.edu) and/or Student Affairs (studentaffairs@ku.edu) for review.

    Support for students affected by discrimination and/or harassment based on historically marginalized identities is available upon request to Student Affairs (studentaffairs@ku.edu).

    Any incidents of possible discrimination, harassment, sexual or relationship violence, and/or stalking should be reported to the Office of Civil Rights and Title IX.
