Faculty Support

We partner with Human Resource Management, the Office of Faculty Affairs, the Center for Teaching Excellence, University Governance, and other employee-serving units to ensure that the faculty experience and campus climate are inclusive and equitable.

Faculty Concern & Retention Pathway

Navigating a large organization can be confusing, please use this resource to help you find a resolution for concerns and mitigate faculty attrition.

Note, it is appropriate to submit almost any incident to the Office of Civil Rights & Title IX as they can investigate a situation plus help you get the support you need from other campus resources.

As a reminder, as a University employee, you are a mandatory reporter. That means whether committed against you or someone else, you are required to report incidents of sexual misconduct, discrimination, harassment, dating/domestic violence, stalking, or retaliation.

Pathway for Faculty Concerns

Department Chair or Director

If your concern is not specifically related to harassment or discrimination, you should reach out to the Chairperson or Director. They should assist you in resolving your concern or refer you to others on campus you can assist, such as the Ombuds Office or Employee Relations.

Equity Advisor

If your departmental chairperson or director is not helpful in addressing or resolving your concern, you should reach out to your Equity Advisor. They serve as a liaison between the Office of DEIB and your unit. The Equity Advisor is a point person to ensure that equitable practices and an inclusive climate are facilitated and maintained for all students, staff, and faculty on KU’s campuses.

Dean or Vice Provost

If your Equity Advisor is unresponsive to your concern, you should reach out to the Dean or Vice Provost who leads your unit. In that communication, you should copy the Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging, Office of Faculty Affairs, and Employee Relations.

Concerned about a student?

If you are a student, staff, faculty, or family member who has concerns about a specific student’s behaviors and/or well-being and do not know where to turn, Student Affairs Student Care Referral Team strives to develop, facilitate, and coordinate a university-wide program of care and support for students.

Submit a care referral.

Departure Resources and Exit Survey

DEIB and HRM invite all departing or transferring employees to participate in a confidential Exit Survey. For more information and resources, please visit Human Resource Management.
