The Diversity & Equity Badge Program for Students
Do you want to learn more about equity, inclusion, and social justice? Do you want to be prepared to enter the workforce with cultural competency and understanding? If you are student currently enrolled at KU, consider completing the newly introducted Diversity & Equity Badge Program for students!
How do I earn the badge?
In order to earn the badge, participants must attend at least 2 events per semester and 4 total events per year from at least two of the following Diversity and Equity offices:
- Emily Taylor Center for Women and Gender Equity
- Office of Multicultural Affairs
- Center for Sexuality and Gender Diversity
- Office of Diversity and Equity
Why should I earn the badge?
There are countless reasons to actively commit yourself to learning as much as you can about equity, inclusion, and social justice. As citizens in a diverse and increasingly globalized society, one of the strengths that employers look for the most when hiring is cultural competency. Employers want to know that the people they hire are equipped with the skills to interact with people from a variety of diverse backgrounds and identities. Additionally, lelarning about populations with identities different than your own can help you to become more empathetic and better informed about all that goes on in our immediate environment, as well as the broader world around us.
Who do I contact if I have questions?
If you have questions about the program and any of its requirements, you can contact the Office of Diversity and Equity at firstname.lastname@example.org.
